(GBC) — Twenty thieves attacked Lupin’s film crew while they were filming in the Nanterre district near Paris last month, stealing €300,000 worth of equipment, the BBC reported. Seven people were arrested and are facing charges over armed robbery as part of an organised gang and receiving stolen goods.
Among the seven, who are aged between 13 and 21, three of them are being held in custody while the other four are under judicial supervision. Some stolen equipment have been recovered and the police are still searching for other assailants at large.
The popular Netflix show Lupin follows professional thief Assane Diop inspired by fictional French master of disguise Arsène Lupin. A Netflix spokesperson said the attackers launched fireworks at the cast and crew on set, among which included the show’s principal actor Omer Sy, though none were injured in the incident.
This incident follows an earlier heist targeted at another Netflix show, where £150,000 worth of antique props were stolen from the set of The Crown in Doncaster, northern England, according to a report in the Antiques Trade Gazette.
